Marco Cassetta ready to shine on home soil in Italy

From partners to rivals. At the end of April, Marco Cassetta and Jose Luis Gonzalez won the FIP Silver in Bari; this time, once again in Italy, they will face each other for the title at the FIP Silver Giulianova. The Spaniard leads the all-time CUPRA FIP Tour winners’ ranking alongside fellow Spaniard Gonzalo Rubio and Flavio Abbate, with 15 titles. The Italian follows closely with 14 titles. On this occasion, the two players will take to the court alongside the Melendez brothers: Cassetta will partner Pedro, while Gonzalez will play with Álvaro. The latter pair claimed the title together last week at the FIP Bronze Kénitra in Morocco. Also among the leading contenders are recent FIP Gold Shanghai winner Facundo Lopez, who will share the court with Lucho Capra, and the pair of Diego Garcia and Santi Pineda, who won the FIP Bronze Seville title in April.

Leading the women’s draw are Leti Manquillo and Noemi Aguilar. The pair are aiming for their third title of the year together on the CUPRA FIP Tour: in March they won the FIP Bronze Syracuse, while at the end of May they were crowned champions at the FIP Silver Höganas in Sweden. Challenging them for the title will be the number 2 seeds, Nati Lopez and Victoria Kurz. They also arrive in Italy seeking their third title of the year together, following victories at the inaugural edition of the FIP Bronze Prishtina and the FIP Bronze Cyprus II. Also in the spotlight is a pair chasing back-to-back titles: Lea Godallier and Daiara Valenzuela, who were crowned champions at the FIP Silver Narbonne last week. Giulianova will also welcome Claudia Escacena and Patri Martinez, as well as Italy’s Margherita Aima, who will partner Camila Fassio.
