Spain, Ortiz-Kurz aiming for triumph. Castillon and Moriñigo lead the challengers

Winning is difficult; repeating success is even more so. After their victories at the FIP Bronze in Prishtina, Kosovo, and the FIP Bronze in Cyprus, Victoria Kurz arrive at the FIP Bronze Unomas in Lanzarote, Spain, looking to continue their excellent form this season: in this case she will compete with Anna Ortiz. In addition to the two titles she have won, Kurz have come close to lifting the trophy on three other occasions, losing in the final each time. Claiming another title will not be an easy task, as several competitive pairs are entered in this CUPRA FIP Tour event. Chief among them are Carmen Castillon and Maria Teresa Moriñigo. Castillon is still searching for her first title of the year after losing three finals in the last 40 days (FIP Silver Bandol, FIP Bronze London and FIP Bronze Poland). Her partner has also yet to win a title in 2026. Other pairs to watch include Giorgia Rosi-Maria Arteaga Vilches and Steffi Merah-Maria Delgado.

Matches in this tournament will be played at the Sports Club Puerto Calero. The main draw will begin tomorrow, Friday 12 June, and conclude on Sunday 14 June, when the finals will be contested. The favourites for the men’s title are Marcos Cordoba and Thijs Roper: Cordoba won the FIP Bronze in Mumbai earlier this season, while Roper is seeking his first title of the year. Their main challengers are Samu Rivas, winner of the FIP Bronze in Helsingborg in March, and Alfonso Sanchez. Also entered in the tournament are Mateo Rivero-Joaquin De Astoreca and Bentahor Espino Mustafa-Joel Olivera Palos.
