González and Meléndez aim for another victory in Italy

After winning in Giulianova last week, the pair of José Luis González and Álvaro Meléndez, the tournament’s No. 1 seeds, will be aiming to repeat their success at the FIP Silver Chieti. González is chasing his 17th career title on the CUPRA FIP Tour, where he already holds the all-time record, while Meléndez is seeking his third title of the season on the circuit. Joining them in the top half of the draw are Robert Belmont and Guillem Figuerola. In the bottom half are Marcos Gonzalez Blanco and Martin Abud, the recent champions of the FIP Silver Narbonne, along with the pairing of Diego Dorta and Pablo Sanchez. The latter has already claimed FIP Bronze titles this season in Singapore, Bratislava and Nairobi. The tournament’s main draw will begin on Friday 3 July and conclude on Sunday 5 July, when the semi-finals and finals will be played.

At the top of the women’s draw are the recent FIP Silver Narbonne champions Lorena Vano and Xenia Clasca Vidiella. Their main challengers are the tournament’s No. 2 seeds, Ana Varo and Caterina Baldi. Baldi has already won in Italy this season, claiming the FIP Bronze Montesilvano title, while Varo is pursuing her first title of the year on the circuit. Also among the leading contenders are Camille Sireix and Tess De Vocht, together with Natalia Molinilla and Bo Luttikhuis.
