Belgrade, Day3. All the top seeds reach the semi-finals. Salazar and Osoro face Barrera-Montes

Semi-final day has arrived in Belgrade. The FIP Gold tournament in Serbia is ready to crown the four pairs who will play for the titles tomorrow. Before returning to Madrid to receive the tribute for her outstanding career, Ale Salazar continues to advance through the draw: after a 6-2 6-3 win over Barbara Las Heras and Daria Kucheriavaia, Salazar and Aranzazu Osoro will face Marta Barrera and Jana Montes, who defeated Marta Borrero and Teresa Navarro 6-4 7-6. While the top half of the draw will see the number 1 and 4 seeds go head-to-head, the bottom half will feature the number 2 and 3 seeds: Victoria Iglesias and Lorena Rufo, after beating Alix Collombon and Ksenia Sharifova 7-5 6-4, will face Marta Talavan and Jessica Castelló, who eliminated Victoria Kurz and Anna Ortiz with a pair of 6-3 sets.

 

While the women’s semi-finals will start at 3pm, the men’s action will get under way not before 6.30pm. First on court will be Coki Nieto and Mike Yanguas (1), who after a 6-2 6-2 win over Nicolas Zurita and Samuel Rivas will face Alex Ruiz and Javi Garcia (4), through after a 6-4 6-4 victory over Javi Ruiz and Santiago Pineda. They will be followed by Franco Stupaczuk and Jon Sanz (2), who beat Francisco Jurado and Alejandro Garcia 6-2 6-2 and will face Pablo Lijó and Xisco Gil, who reached the semi-finals after defeating Marc Quilez and Fede Mouriño 6-3 7-6.
