Centurion, El Prat and Marina di Ravenna open August schedule

Two events in Europe and one in Africa open the August programme of the FIP Promises Tour, with the young talents of padel competing across Spain, Italy and South Africa. It is in South Africa that the spotlight returns to Centurion, which already hosted a FIP Promises event at the beginning of May. Eight draws are scheduled through to Sunday at the Raslouw Corner Padel Club, four for boys and four for girls, from Under 12 to Under 18. Several of the winners from three months ago are back and ready to take centre stage once again, including Imaan Valli and Basma Moola, the top seeds in the Girls Under 16 draw and also competing in the Under 18 event, where they will partner Caterina Frazzitta and Alleyah Omar respectively. In the boys’ draws, Joshua Greyling returns in search of another Boys Under 18 title, this time alongside Britain’s Finlay Harry Ferguson. Muhammed Dayyan Chand, who partnered Greyling to the title in May, will also be aiming for another success, this time alongside Muhammad Dasoo.

 

The NextGen Tour also heads to Spain for a new stop at the FIP Promises El Prat de Llobregat, with 150 pairs entered. At Padel Barcelona, the top seeds in the Boys Under 18 draw are Javier Bolumar Orti, already a standout performer at several events including Mérida, Dubai and Alicante, and Izan Ranera Pedrero. In the Girls Under 18 draw, Paula Gil Aguilar and Daniela Valiente Escric lead the entry list, while in the Boys Under 12 category, Paul Rolandi Porcel and Tello Buitron Olcin arrive full of confidence after their victory in Paris two weeks ago.

 

The Tour will also stop in Italy this weekend, with the FIP Promises Heroe’s taking place in Marina di Ravenna. Seven draws are scheduled (four boys’ and three girls’), with the main draws getting underway on Friday 7 August. Gabriele Laurino and Stefano Indomenico, who helped Italy win bronze at the FIP Junior Euro Padel Cup, head the Boys Under 18 entry list, while Spain’s Vega Cano Ortin and Maria Martinez Perez top the Girls Under 18 draw. Swiss brothers Nathan and Benjamin Filieri lead the Boys Under 16 field, while Britain’s Elizabeth Vellacott and Rosie Allen will challenge Italy’s Vittoria Conti and Costanza Vanni in the Girls Under 16 draw.
