Bucharest, Day2. Aragon-Roglan, six sets in one day: two marathons to reach the semi-finals
September 12, 2026
Two wins in just a few hours secured a place in the semi-finals. The FIP Gold Bucharest has entered its decisive stage, with the women’s draw set to feature the top four seeds, while the men’s draw has produced two pairs capable of overturning the predictions. After Italians Giulio Graziotti and Simone Iacovino eliminated third seeds Denis Perino and Andres Fernandez Lancha, they repeated the feat first against Di Giovanni/Fino and then against Platania/Nicocia, winning both matches by the same scoreline, 7-6 6-3. Albert Roglan and Manu Aragon, meanwhile, won two marathons: the first against Bergeron/Seurin (6-4 5-7 6-4), the second against second seeds Pablo Lijó and Xisco Gil (5-7 6-4 7-6). Today, Roglan and Aragon will face Alvaro Cepero and Pepe Aliaga, while Graziotti and Iacovino will take on top seeds David Gala and Enzo Jensen.
WOMEN The women’s semi-finals will open the day at the Nastase and Marica Sports Club at 13:00 local time, 12:00 CEST. Top seeds Lucia Martinez and Letizia Manquillo, who dropped just three games across their two matches yesterday, will face Italians Carlotta Casali and Clarissa Aima, who also reached the semi-finals without dropping a set. It has been a perfect run so far for second and third seeds Araceli Martinez and Laura Lujan, who after defeating Di Battista/Jurkovic and Vera/Munera will face Sandra Bellver and Ana Dominguez, who advanced with wins over Jackson/Quirk and Rodriguez/Minetti. All matches will be streamed live on the FIP YouTube channel.
