Collado-Goenaga make their debut as number 1 seeds in Guimarães

GUIMÃRAES – Just a few days after embracing and saying goodbye to Pol Hernandez following their exit at the Paris Major, Guille Collado is now beginning a new chapter alongside Enrique Goenaga. Collado returns to action at the FIP Silver in Guimarães, Portugal, alongside his new partner, with the pair entering the men’s draw as the number 1 seeds. Their tournament debut will serve as a warm-up ahead of next week’s FIP Platinum in Lyon, with a main draw featuring a strong line-up of players ranked inside the FIP Ranking’s top 100, including the number 2 seeds, Enzo Jensen (42), fresh from winning the FIP Gold in Bucharest, and Andres Fernandez Lancha (71). Rama Valenzuela and Dani Santigosa (3) arrive in Guimarães after winning the FIP Silver in Utrecht, chasing back-to-back titles. In the top half of the draw, Nacho Vilariño and Juan ‘Coquito’ Zamora (4) are also among those moving forward, while the home players include Nuno and Miguel Deus (6) and Pedro Araujo with Pedro Graça (8), looking for another title in Portugal after their recent triumph at the FIP Silver in Lisbon and their FIP Bronze title in Portimao last month.

 

Marta Barrera and Jana Montes lead the women’s entry list. Standing out in the top half of the draw are Camila Fassio and Amanda Lopez, chasing their second title together after their success at the FIP Bronze in Madrid at the end of August. Eugenia Guimet and Aimee Gibson are also among the pairs in form, back on court just a few days after their victory at the FIP Bronze in Casablanca. Among the many home players, Ana Nogueira will partner Cayetana Sanchez, while Clarinha Santos will team up with another very young Portuguese player, 15-year-old Andrea Batlle.
