Day4. Lebron and Augsburger hold on, Alonso and Goñi dream of another upset
September 10, 2026
They came within one point of defeat, but in the end they won. And the fact that Juan Lebron lay down on the court set up inside Philippe-Chatrier at Roland Garros after match point shows just how much they had suffered. Third seeds Lebron and Leo Augsburger had to save a set point in the second set against Javi Barahona and Maxi Sanchez Blasco, before winning 4-6 7-6 6-4 after almost two and a half hours of battle. Waiting for them in the quarter-finals will be Momo Gonzalez and Lucas Campagnolo, on Day 5 of the Premier Padel Alpine Paris Major, when Edu Alonso and Aimar Goñi will also return to court after today’s upset of fifth seeds Coki Nieto and Mike Yanguas, finalists in Madrid. The 6-4 6-3 victory makes Alonso and Goñi the only pair outside the top eight seeds to reach the quarter-finals. They will face Fede Chingotto and Ale Galan, who defeated Alex Chozas and Juani De Pascual 6-3 6-2, while Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia, after their 6-4 6-3 win over Alex Ruiz and Javi Garcia, will face Fran Guerrero and Javi Leal. Stupaczuk/Sanz against Di Nenno/Navarro will be the final match of the day on Suzanne-Lenglen.
WOMEN The withdrawal of Tamara Icardo and Claudia Jensen from the women’s draw created an opportunity, and Carolina Orsi and Patty Llaguno seized it. Their 6-1 6-1 victory over Victoria Kurz and Anna Ortiz earned them a place in tomorrow’s quarter-finals, not before 18:00, on Philippe-Chatrier against Delfi Brea and Gemma Triay, who defeated Nuria Rodriguez and Giulia Dal Pozzo 7-5 6-3 in the evening. The other round-of-16 matches went according to the seeding, with the favourites winning in straight sets. Ortega/Araujo against Josemaria/Gonzalez and Sanchez/Ustero against Salazar/Osoro will open the programme in Paris at 13:00 CEST, while the third match on Suzanne-Lenglen will see Marina Guinart and Ale Alonso face Claudia Fernandez and Martina Calvo.
