Gala-Jensen reach third final together: a clash with Aragon-Roglan awaits in Bucharest

It will be their third final together, this time on the stage of a FIP Gold. In Bucharest, David Gala and Enzo Jensen will be looking for their first title together after coming close at the FIP Platinum Albania last May and the FIP Silver Alcalá de Guadaíra in July. In the semi-final that brought Saturday’s programme to a close, the number 35 and number 47 in the FIP Ranking defeated Italians Simone Iacovino and Giulio Graziotti in two sets (6-3 6-3), confirming their status as the pair to beat after four matches won without dropping a set. In Sunday’s final, scheduled not before 12.30pm local time (11.30 am CEST), Gala and Jensen will face number 5 seeds Manuel Aragon and Albert Roglan, who continue to impress after yesterday’s double marathon, first against Bergeron/Seurin and then against Pablo Lijó and Xisco Gil, the number 2 pair in the draw. Today, a solid performance against Alvaro Cepero and Pepe Aliaga (6-3 6-4) gave them their first opportunity to win a title together. “Come on Albert!”, Aragon celebrated at the end of the match. “Let’s keep going tomorrow for the final little step.”

WOMEN The top two seeds will contest the women’s title, starting at 11am (10am CEST). Lucia Martinez and Leti Manquillo (1) reached the final after defeating Carlotta Casali and Clarissa Aima (6-3 6-4). Martinez will have the chance to win back-to-back titles after lifting the FIP Gold trophy in San Luis just over 20 days ago, while Manquillo – the most successful winner on the CUPRA FIP Tour, with 16 titles – is also targeting her second Gold title, following the one she won almost two years ago at the FIP Gold in Potosí. Opposite them will be Laura Lujan and Araceli Martinez (6-2 6-4 against Sandra Bellver/Ana Dominguez), who also come into the final having already won the FIP Gold in Abidjan at the end of June.
