Salamanca welcomes the NextGen: eight draws and plenty of action on court

Eight draws and eight titles up for grabs. The FIP Promises Tour heads to Spain for FIP Promises Salamanca, where the NextGen will compete in the Under 12, Under 14, Under 16 and Under 18 categories for both boys and girls. In the oldest boys’ age group, it will be a special tournament for Samu Rivas: he was born in Salamanca and will compete at this tournament alongside Diego Rivas, with whom he is the No. 1 seed. The former has already claimed a career title on the CUPRA FIP Tour, winning the Swedish FIP Bronze in Helsingborg in March. This year, Samu Rivas has been a finalist at the FIP Bronze events in Marnes (France), Portimao (Portugal) and Lanzarote (Spain); last week, he reached the quarter-finals of the FIP Gold in Belgrade. Also targeting the boys’ Under 18 title are Leon David Ruiz Shannon-Daniel Beneyto Sanchez and Javier Merino Nieto-Francisco Goncalves Da Silva. Among the pairs entered in the girls’ Under 18 are Aina Extebarria-Ruth Petit Segarra, Virginia Blazquez Garcia-Lara Prados Magdaleno and Paula Norena Manrique-Gabriela Rodriguez Gonzalez.

The boys’ Under 16 draw is led by the pairing of Alvaro Manassera Arnanz-Vicente Soto Herrera. The main contenders are Marcos Nanez Gomez-Alejandro Alonso Carrera and Joel Ranera-Christian Riesgo. The latter will also compete in the Under 14 category, where they are the No. 1 seeds. In the girls’ Under 16 category, the title will be contested between Marta Navas Alvarez-Ines Mendoza Palazon and Laia Orts Herrero-Clara Lorenzo Garcia.
