São Paulo, titles and 150 FIP Ranking points for Gala-Arce and Velasco-Eugenio. David completes the double

From Bucharest to São Paulo. In the space of one week, David Gala has won two FIP Gold titles on two different continents: first in Europe alongside Enzo Jensen, then in South America with Maxi Arce, who moves closer to the top 16 in the Race to the Finals thanks to the 150 points earned in Brazil. In a final lasting one hour and 24 minutes, Gala and Arce defeated José Diestro and Juanlu Esbri 6-4 6-4. It is Gala’s third title of 2026 with three different partners, after also winning the FIP Silver Abidjan with Inigo Jofre. Arce, meanwhile, triumphed at the FIP Platinum Paredes alongside Juan Tello. “We are very proud of ourselves”, celebrated Arce. “Winning this title was amazing. David and I clicked straight away”. “Maxi gave me so much energy”, said Gala. “Today was a very tough match against two friends”. One of those friends was Diestro, alongside whom Gala won the gold medal at the Mediterranean Games.

WOMEN While the number 2 seeds lifted the trophy in the men’s draw, the women’s title went to the number 1 seeds. Jimena Velasco and Raquel Eugenio defeated Lorena Rufo and Jessica Castelló 7-5 6-4. It is the third CUPRA FIP Tour title of 2026 for Velasco — her first FIP Gold, following two FIP Silver titles — and the sixth of the season, as well as the 13th of her career, for Eugenio, after her triumph at the FIP Platinum Marseille. “Thank you to the crowd for coming out to support us”, said Velasco. “We knew it would be a difficult final, but Raquel played an extraordinary match”. “I’ve been happy to play here for the first time”, added Eugenio. “We didn’t start well, but after going a break down, the small details made the difference. In the second set, we started better, but then we became a little nervous. We managed to hold on and win the title”.

 

There is barely any time to celebrate the conclusion of the FIP Gold São Paulo, as the CUPRA FIP Tour returns to Europe for another major event. The FIP Platinum Lyon begins on Wednesday, with another 300 Race points on offer.
