Day2. Sintes-Zamora steal the show, as do Hernandez-Castaño. Coello and Tapia take centre stage on Tuesday

The standout result on day two of the Kuwait Major Premier Padel came from Marc Sintes and Coquito Zamora. Their 6-4 3-6 7-5 victory over number 8 seeds Momo Gonzalez and Lucas Campagnolo sends the two Spaniards into Wednesday’s round of 16. The other pair to eliminate seeded opponents were Pol Hernandez and Manuel Castaño, who beat Alex Arroyo and José Jimenez (15) 6-3 6-3. Franco Stupaczuk and Jon Sanz made a solid start, defeating Andres Fernandez and José Diestro 6-2 7-6, as did Paquito Navarro and Martin Di Nenno, who advanced with a 6-2 6-3 win over Alvaro Montiel and Dani Santigosa. Number 7 seeds Fran Guerrero and Javi Leal needed three sets to eliminate Fede Mouriño and Marc Quilez, as anticipation builds for the debuts of the top seeds. Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia will face Flavio Abbate and Franco Dal Bianco in the match scheduled to close the programme on Centre Court, not before 20:00 local time (18:00 CET). Before the world number ones take to the court, Juan Lebron and Leo Augsburger will face Juan Cruz Belluati and Martin Abud.

WOMEN Ale Salazar will open the day alongside Aranzazu Osoro, as they take on Julieta Bidahorria and Virginia Riera, who have been in excellent form on the CUPRA FIP Tour recently. The Centre Court programme will also feature Marta Ortega and Sofia Araujo (5) against Anna Ortiz and Maria Laura Ferreyra. Twelve matches are scheduled as the draw moves towards the round of 16, when the world’s top four pairs will also enter the competition to contest the year’s third Major and its 2,000 points, in what has been one of the most unpredictable seasons to date.
