Tarragona, 22 October 2026. International padel will return to Tarragona towards the end of the year. The Palau d’Esports Catalunya will host the Cupra FIP Finals Tarragona 2026, a competition bringing together the world’s padel elite from 3 to 6 December. Tickets are now on sale at: https://tickets.cuprafipfinalstarragona.com/

Following the success of the Cupra Costa Daurada Tarragona Premier Padel P1, held in August 2025, the city will once again feature on the international padel calendar. The competition will bring the International Padel Federation (FIP) season to a close, with the support of the Catalan Government’s Department of Sport, the Tarragona Provincial Council and Tarragona City Council.

Luigi Carraro, President of the International Padel Federation, said: “The Cupra FIP Finals Tarragona will bring together some of the finest talents in international padel, showcasing the high level of competition and diversity of a sport that continues to grow across every continent. They will also provide an excellent opportunity to inspire new generations of players and fans in Tarragona, which once again demonstrated its passion for padel and its ability to host major events in our sport last summer.”

Institutions back the Cupra FIP Finals in Tarragona

Hosting a tournament of this calibre in Tarragona is excellent news for raising Catalonia’s international profile, as highlighted by Berni Álvarez, Minister for Sport of the Government of Catalonia: “We are delighted that top-level padel is returning to Tarragona. Last year, the public response was very positive and the event was very well organised. Tarragona has a clear commitment to sports tourism, and this will be a major event. This year, the format is new, taking place ahead of the Finals at Barcelona’s Palau Sant Jordi. We will work closely with the City Council to ensure it is a success and delivers a significant social, economic and sporting impact on the city.”

Tarragona Mayor Rubén Viñuales stated: “It is great news that the world’s best padel is returning to Tarragona this December. These four days will give fans the chance to experience a competition featuring some of the best players in the sport. We invite everyone to come to the Palau d’Esports and enjoy this major sporting event.”

Mario Soler, Councillor for Sport and Sports Tourism, added: “We are delighted that this major event has chosen Tarragona as its host city. The Palau d’Esports will provide the setting for this landmark event on the international padel calendar.”

“Once again, our region is demonstrating its ability to host major international sporting events such as the Cupra FIP Finals. This competition strengthens our position as a sports destination while attracting visitors outside the peak tourist season, boosting retail, restaurants, accommodation, services and the wider regional economy,” emphasised Vale Pino, Deputy for People and Talent at the Tarragona Provincial Council.

Four days to crown the champions

The tournament will bring together 32 pairs: 16 men’s pairs and 16 women’s pairs. All pairs will be eligible to enter, with qualification determined by their position in the FIP Ranking. Pairs who have won FIP Platinum tournaments during the season will receive priority entry to the Cupra FIP Finals, provided that the same two players who won the tournament register as a pair.

The competition schedule will be as follows:

  • Thursday, 3 December – Round of 16: 16 matches across two
  • Friday, 4 December – Quarter-finals: 8 matches across two
  • Saturday, 5 December – Semi-finals: 4 matches on one
  • Sunday, 6 December – Finals: 2 matches on one

Catalan talent awaits the final tournaments of the season

In the men’s category, Pol Hernández, currently the highest-ranked Catalan player in the world, is one to watch as the season draws to a close. The Granollers-born player sits 37th in the FIP Race Ranking. With the final tournaments of the season still to come, Hernández will be looking to improve his position and secure a place in Tarragona.

In the women’s draw, the battle for qualification is also set to go down to the wire. Jana Montes, from Girona, currently occupies 32nd place and will need to defend her position against the players chasing her. Among them are Laia Rodríguez and Noa Cánovas, both from Barcelona, who will also be looking to make the most of the remaining opportunities to qualify for the tournament.
