Bea and Claudia’s first time. Chingotto and Galan also on the throne
May 26, 2025
Gemma Triay will start the week as No. 1 in the FIP ranking, but not with a trophy in her hands. In Asunción came the first title for Bea Gonzalez and Claudia Fernandez, but also the third this season (the eighth overall) for Fede Chingotto and Ale Galan, who after Miami and Santiago also conquered the P2 Padel Premier played in Paraguay.
WOMEN On the court in the women’s final were the same players from the 2024 final, but with different teammates. Bea Gonzalez and Claudia Fernandez, at the end of a two-hour and 57’ marathon, won their first title as a pair, becoming the ‘pareja’ with the lowest average age to win a title in the Qatar Airways Premier Padel circuit (21.38 years). Delfi Brea and Gemma Triay, dominators of this early 2025 to the point (for Gemma) of pushing Paula Josemaria and Ari Sanchez out of the top position in the FIP rankings, had to surrender with a score of 7-6 3-6 6-2, with the number 3 seeded players being down 5-2 in the first set before winning the tiebreak, without trembling in the deciding set. “We deserved joy and a victory like that – the words of Bea Gonzalez, who won five titles last year paired with Delfi Brea –. Claudia gave me calm and order, and we were able to raise our first trophy”. “A victory that gives us great confidence – added Claudia Fernandez, last year’s winner of six tournaments with Gemma Triay -. The final was a very physical and mental battle”.
MEN Triumphing in the men’s tournament instead were Fede Chingotto and Ale Galan, in their third title in 2025. A final, the one against Pablo Cardona and Leo Augsburger – in any case getting closer and closer to the top pairs in the world – that in fact lasted only one set. After winning it in a tiebreak, the ‘Chingalan’ dominated the second, closing 7-6 6-1. “Pablo and Leo push you to the limit, they are as close as you can get to Coello and Tapia, but we brought out our trademark, fighting and believing on every ball”, Galan’s analysis, followed by Chingotto’s. “We have been working hard these past few weeks, all going in the same direction. We still have a lot to improve, but we are on the right track and we are happy”. With the triumph in Asunción, Chingotto and Galan move up to first place in the FIP Race.
With the week in Paraguay closed, the Qatar Airways Premier Padel Tour moves straight to Argentina for P1 in Buenos Aires.
