Day 5, record attendance! Paula and Ari return to number 1. Bergamini-Navarro, first final as a pair
June 1, 2025
There were 16,156 fans at Parque Roca to watch the semifinals of the Premier Padel Buenos Aires P1. A historic record for world padel, with Paula Josemaria and Ari Sanchez celebrating their return to the top of the FIP rankings in front of a big crowd. Thanks to their semifinal victory (6-2 6-4) over Martina Calvo and Aranzazu Osoro – the real surprise of the week in Argentina – Paula and Ari qualified for the final and overtook Gemma Triay, who had climbed to number 1 in Asuncion but was defeated 6-4 6-3 by Bea Gonzalez and Claudia Fernandez alongside Delfi Brea. The number 3 seeds will therefore have the chance to win their second title in a row after the one they won in Paraguay in the final, which starts at 2 p.m. local time, 7 p.m. CET. For Paula and Ari, it would be their third title of 2025 after the P1 in Riyadh and the P2 in Brussels.
MEN The men’s final, which will start not before 5 p.m. in Buenos Aires (10 p.m. CET), will see world number ones Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia take on seventh seeds Paquito Navarro and Lucas Bergamini. This is an unprecedented final, reached with a double 6-4 victory over Momo Gonzalez and Jon Sanz (who had eliminated Juan Lebron and Franco Stupaczuk in the quarterfinals), which will give Coello and Tapia the chance to win their fourth tournament of the season after Riyadh, Doha, and Brussels. For Navarro and Bergamini, it will be their first final as a pair, which came about due to the withdrawal of Ale Galan and Fede Chingotto at the start of the third set due to physical problems for the Spanish. Paquito had not reached a final since the Paris Major in 2023, when he and Chingotto lost 7-6 6-1 to Coello and Tapia. The Brazilian, on the other hand, returns to a final he has not played in since NewGiza (October 2024), when he played alongside Javi Garrido and was defeated by Yanguas and Stupaczuk.
