Day 4. The big advance Carburger-Chingalan: showtime at Plaza Mayor at 5 p.m.
June 27, 2025
In Rome, Pablo Cardona and Leo Augsburger’s tournament was over before it began, with their defeat against Lucas Campagnolo and Nachi Sager. Therefore, what seemed like a sure quarter-final against Fede Chingotto and Ale Galan didn’t take place. The two pairs will meet at Plaza Mayor, again in the quarter-finals, but this time in the Oysho Valladolid Premier Padel P2. It promises to be a spectacular match, which will open the afternoon session dedicated to the quarter-finals of the men’s draw at 5 p.m. The “Chingalan” are in high spirits after their triumph in the BNL Italy Major Premier Padel and their 7-5, 6-2 victory over Ramirez/Axelsson. At Plaza Mayor and Acera de Recoletos, where yesterday Momo Gonzalez scored an extraordinary point on match point to give him and Jon Sanz victory over brothers Nuno and Miguel Deus, seven of the eight seeds remain: the only exception is Fran Guerrero and Javi Leal, semi-finalists in Rome, who will face Gonzalez/Sanz in the quarter-finals. Coello/Tapia (1)-Alonso/Bautista (8) and Stupaczuk/Lebron (3)-Bergamini/Navarro (6) are the other matches.
WOMEN The morning will be dedicated to the quarter-finals of the women’s draw, with Ari Sanchez and Paula Josemaria entering the tournament with a 6-1 6-4 victory over Collombon/Martinez and facing Bea Caldera and Carmen Goenaga, who also reached the quarter-finals in Rome. Delfi Brea and world number 1 Gemma Triay started with a double 6-2 victory over Marina Guinart and Victoria Iglesias, and today they will face Ksenia Sharifova and Laia Rodriguez. Sainz/Llaguno (8)-Osoro/Calvo and Gonzalez/Fernandez (3)-Icardo/Jensen (5) are the other quarters.
