The draws. Coello-Tapia and Josemaria-Sanchez defend their title

From Madrid to Malaga, and then on to Tarragona. July is Spain’s month, with two consecutive stages of the Qatar Airways Premier Padel Tour (after the one at the end of June in Valladolid) following the first two phases of the FIP Euro Padel Cup still underway in the capital. Next week, the circuit returns to the Palacio de Deportes José M. Martin Carpena, where last year Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia in the men’s competition and Paula Josemaria and Ari Sanchez lifted the trophy and where they will appear in 2025 as the number 1 seeds.

MEN The men’s draw will consist of 48 pairs, with the 16 seeds entering the competition in the second round. Coello and Tapia, winners of the last two tournaments in Valladolid and Bordeaux, will make their debut against Rubio/Gonzalez or wild cards Sanchez/Zamora; Fede Chingotto and Ale Galan, seeded number 2, could face wild cards De Pascual and Garcia or Hernandez/Collado. Given the absence of Juan Lebron, the number 3 seeds will be Coki Nieto and Mike Yanguas, who could make their debut against Aris Patiniotis and Gonza Alfonso (a new pair) or against Gala/Campagnolo. Franco Stupaczuk will play with Maximiliano Arce in this tournament, seeded number 7. These are the hypothetical quarter-finals: Coello/Tapia (1)-Tello/Di Nenno (6), Bergamini/Navarro (5)-Gonzalez/Sanz (4), Yanguas/Nieto (3)-Cardona/Augsburger (8), Stupaczuk/Arce (7)-Chingotto/Galan (2).

WOMEN There will be 28 pairs competing in the women’s draw, which sees the return of Delfi Brea and Gemma Triay (2) after their absence in Bordeaux. They await a qualified pair or Canovas/Velasco in the round of 16. Josemaria/Sanchez, on the other hand, will face Talavan/Navarro or Las Heras/Marchetti in the round of 16. Sofia Araujo and Andrea Ustero, seeded number 4 and winners in Bordeaux, could face a qualified pair or Jessica Castelló and Lorena Rufo, who were already eliminated in the quarter-finals in France. Possible quarter-finals: Sanchez/Josemaria (1)-Ortega/Icardo (8), Alonso/Jensen (7)-Ustero/Araujo (4), Gonzalez/Fernandez (3)-Virseda/Osoro (6), who will return to play together, while Martina Calvo will play with Ale Salazar, Sainz/Llaguno (8)-Brea/Triay (2).
