Day3. Calvo-Salazar, talent and experience: Martina and Ale win in a comeback

Martina Calvo and Ale Salazar are one of the new pairs in the Premier Padel Malaga P1, but also one of the most highly expected. On the same side of the court, one of the young talents who stood out in the first half of 2025 and one of the players who made history in world padel. Calvo and Salazar’s debut was not easy: against Lucia Martinez and Marta Marrero, Martina and Ale lost the first set in a tiebreak before coming back to win 6-7 6-4 6-3 in two hours and 32 minutes. Ahead of the debut of the top four seeds, scheduled for Thursday, the number 5 seed – Marta Ortega and Tamara Icardo – defeated Carolina Orsi and Nuria Rodriguez 6-4 6-2.
MEN The defending champions made a winning debut in the men’s draw: Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia defeated Gonzalo Rubio and Javi Ruiz in one hour and 19 minutes, while Fede Chingotto and Ale Galan conceded only two games (6-2 6-0) to Hernandez/Collado in 54 minutes. The number 2 seeds will return to the court directly on Friday in the quarter-finals, given the withdrawal of Inigo Jofre and Alex Arroyo due to an injury to the Spanish player. In the evening, Momo Gonzalez and Jon Sanz also withdrew after the first three games of their match against brothers Nuno and Miguel Deus.
