The draws. Coello and Tapia chasing a hat-trick, Triay and Brea nº 1 for the first time
August 30, 2025
From Spain to Spain. After a four-week summer break, the Qatar Airways Premier Padel Tour starts again at the Movistar Arena and with the Comunidad de Madrid Premier P1, kicking off a busy period with four tournaments in five weeks. The action resumes in the Spanish capital, where Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia triumphed in both 2023 and 2024. In the women’s draw, Gemma Triay and Claudia Fernandez lifted the trophy last year after Delfi Brea and Bea Gonzalez withdrew.
WOMEN The pairs in the women’s main draw have changed in the meantime, with Delfi Brea joining Gemma Triay and Bea Gonzalez and Claudia Fernandez doing the same. And for the first time, the P1 in Madrid will not see Paula Josemaria and Ari Sanchez at the top of the entry list: instead, there will be Delfi and Gemma, who will make their debut in the 28-pair draw – like Josemaria/Sanchez, Gonzalez/Fernandez and Ustero/Araujo – directly in the round of 16. Arruabarrena/Bidahorria or Barrera/Caparros will be the first opponents for Brea and Triay, who are chasing their seventh title of the season. For Paula and Ari, on the other hand, there are Goenaga/Caldera or Talavan/Navarro. Possible quarter-finals: Brea/Triay (1)-Alonso/Jensen (6), Osoro/Virseda (7)-Ustero/Araujo (4), Gonzalez/Fernandez (3)-Ortega/Icardo (5), Salazar/Calvo (8)-Josemaria/Sanchez (2).
MEN There are 48 pairs at the start of the men’s tournament, with the 16 seeds entering directly in the second round. Coello and Tapia will face Gala/Campagnolo or Hernandez/Collado, while in the bottom half of the draw, Fede Chingotto and Ale Galan (four titles, the last in Rome) have been drawn against Mouriño/Valenzuela or Santigosa/Sanchez. Completing the podium of seeded players are Franco Stupaczuk and Juan Lebron, who will make their debut against Sanyo Gutierrez and Gonza Alfonso or Denis Perino and Nacho Piotto. Hypothetical quarter-finals: Coello/Tapia (1)-Bergamini/Navarro (5), Cardona/Tello (8)-Yanguas/Nieto (4), Lebron/Stupaczuk (3)-Gonzalez/Sanz (6), Di Nenno/Augsburger (7)-Chingotto/Galan (2).
