Maxi Sanchez and Jose Jimenez in the men’s draw, Melania Merino and Ana Nogueira in the women’s: these are the winning pairs at the FIP Silver in Lisbon this weekend, held at the sports center owned by football legend Cristiano Ronaldo, a long-time padel enthusiast. For the first time, the venue hosted an international circuit tournament. The football star, absent because of his commitments in Saudi Arabia with Al-Nassr, streamed the finals live on his YouTube channel, just as he did a few months ago for the Riyadh P1.
In the men’s draw, which featured 32 pairs, the duo Sanchez-Jimenez claimed the title with a 6-2 6-4 victory in the final against Spaniards Enrique Goenaga and Luis Hernandez.
In the women’s final, the top-seeded pair of the main draw, Melania Merino (No. 48 in the FIP ranking) and Ana Nogueira (No. 38), won 7-6 6-2 against Lucia Fernandez and Maria Teresa Moriñigo.
