titles for the number 1s Coello and Tapia make it 10, no one like Brea and Triay
October 5, 2025
Ten titles in 2025 for Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia, nine for Delfi Brea and Gemma Triay. The Premier Padel Rotterdam P1 is also marked by the number 1s: a week after their defeat in Dusseldorf, Coello and Tapia regained the throne, while Brea and Triay strengthened their superiority this season. Record numbers for the four winners of the Dutch P1: Tapia reaches 50 international titles, the same as Ale Galan, with Fernando Belasteguin, Juan Martin Diaz and Pablo Lima remaining the only ones to have won more. Coello reaches 43, Gemma Triay climbs to 52 and is now six behind Ale Salazar’s record (58); for Gemma and Delfi themselves, this is their 16th Premier Padel title, one more than Paula Josemaria and Ari Sanchez, who, however, won them all together.
MEN The men’s final lasted one hour and 32 minutes, with Coello and Tapia winning 6-3 7-6: the world number ones broke early, were caught up at 2-2 before another break in the fifth game of the first set, and the second set was decided by a very close tiebreak in front of 8,000 spectators at the Ahoy Arena. Arturito and Agus thus confirmed the title they won in 2024. “It wasn’t easy to start again after losing a final – said Tapia –. But we have a team able of turning any result around. Thanks to all the people who filled the arena, it’s always exciting to play here”. “Thanks to the tournament organisers and all of you – added Coello –. Chingotto and Galan are a great team. Winning today after a defeat like the one a week ago is very important for us, as it will be important to stay focused for the next tournament”.
WOMEN The women’s final didn’t last three hours and 20 minutes like the one in Dusseldorf, but the match between Brea and Triay versus Josemaria and Sanchez was another two-hour-and-40-minute battle, won by the number 1 seeds with a score of 6-2 3-6 6-4. It was a match that started in favour of the number 1 seeds, but Paula and Ari managed to take it to a deciding set with a break in the sixth game, which ended with a break thanks to an error at the net by “Paulita”. “It’s wonderful to see the stadium so full, I’m very excited because it was a crazy final – said Gemma happily –. Paula and Ari are also number 1, we always have to play well to beat them. It was very important to win this tournament, like all the others”. “After winning the match in Germany, we said we had to improve to win again, and we did – commented Delfi –. Losing the second set and winning the third was a great show of strength”.
The tour de force of five tournaments in six weeks will now continue in Italy, with the Oysho Milano Premier Padel P1 starting on Monday at the Allianz Cloud. More excitement is on the way.
