The first-ever men’s edition of the FIP Asia Padel Cup – organized by the International Padel Federation together with the Qatar Tennis Federation (QTF) and Padel Asia, and held at the Khalifa Tennis and Squash International Complex in Doha – goes to the United Arab Emirates. The host nation, Qatar, had hoped to celebrate at home, but was defeated 2-1 by the UAE.
Vilariño and M. Al Janahi earned the first win of the tie, beating Saadon Alkuwari and Waly 6-3 6-2. Qatar leveled the score thanks to the Nawaf brothers, Rashid and Mashari, who won 6-2 6-0, but the decisive point came from Goenaga and F. Al Janahi, victorious 6-4 6-1 over Al Khanji and Aljufairi, sparking celebrations for the Emirates.
Australia finished in third place after a 2-0 win over Iran, with victories from Bechard/Rafter against Golestan/Nejad Marian and Velickovic/Navarro over Shahi/Roghani.
