Day4. Yanguas, Ortega and Araujo still in the race to defend their titles
October 30, 2025
The desire to defend his title in Egypt proved stronger than fatigue. Mike Yanguas, who won last year’s Premier Padel Newgiza P2 alongside Franco Stupaczuk, left the court exhausted – just like his current partner Coki Nieto – but after two hours and 53 minutes of battle, they managed to defeat Momo González and Fran Guerrero 6-0 6-7 7-5, securing a spot in tomorrow’s semifinals. In the second match of the day, starting at 2:00 p.m. local time (12:00 CET), Yanguas and Nieto will face the top seeds Fede Chingotto and Ale Galán, who, after winning the Oysho Milano Premier Padel P1, are aiming for another title. Today, the “Chingalán” duo defeated Martín Di Nenno and Leo Augsburger 7-6 6-4. In the bottom half of the draw, Javi Leal and Lucas Bergamini advanced after beating Lucas Campagnolo and Javi Garrido 6-3 7-6 and will now face Jon Sanz and Paquito Navarro (6-4 6-3 to Edu Alonso and Juan Tello).
WOMEN While Yanguas looks to retain his title in the men’s event, in the women’s draw both Marta Ortega and Sofia Araujo – last year’s champions together – remain in contention, though now with different partners. Ortega, teaming up with Tamara Icardo, defeated Claudia Jensen and Ale Alonso 6-3 3-6 6-1 and will face Ale Salazar and Martina Calvo (who won 6-0 6-3 against Bea Caldera and Carmen Goenaga) in the semifinal that will open tomorrow’s play. In the bottom half, Sofia Araujo, now partnering Andrea Ustero, beat Aranzazu Osoro and Victoria Iglesias 6-2 6-3 and will meet Paula Josemaria and Ari Sanchez, who advanced with a 6-4 6-1 win over Marina Guinart and Veronica Virseda.
