Day1. Capra and Goñi earn a showdown with the world champions

With a 6-0 6-2 win over Pincho Fernandez and Mario Del Castillo, Lucho Capra and Aimar Goñi have earned themselves a big opportunity in Dubai: the chance to face the world champions Fede Chingotto and Ale Galan, who – after their triumph in Kuwait at the FIP World Cup Pairs – are ready to return to the court in search of another trophy.

Among the notable results of the opening day is the victory of Rama Valenzuela and Fede Mouriño over José Diestro and Victor Ruiz. Meanwhile, wild cards Sergio Icardo and Francisco Jurado will face Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia in the second round. Coello and Tapia will be looking for revenge in Dubai after their loss in the final of the FIP World Cup Pairs. Finally, Juan Lebron and Franco Stupaczuk will begin their last tournament together against José Jimenez and Maxi Sanchez Blasco.

WOMEN There will be 22 matches scheduled tomorrow, with the debut of the 16 seeded pairs in the men’s draw. Six matches will complete the first round of the women’s tournament: while waiting for the debut of the top four seeds – including Paula Josemaria and Ari Sanchez, fresh off their triumph at the FIP World Cup Pairs – the morning session starting at 12:00 local time (10:00 CET) will feature seeds No. 5 (Marta Ortega and Tamara Icardo), No. 6 (Ale Alonso and Claudia Jensen), and No. 7 (Ale Salazar and Martina Calvo). Seed No. 8, Marina Guinart and Veronica Virseda, defeated Marta Caparros and Agueda Perez 6-1 6-2.
