The Superpibes return, Delfi and Gemma for a poker: what a show in Mexico

The final tournament of the Qatar Airways Premier Padel season, with 2,000 points awarded to the champions, the race for the last spots in the Race to Barcelona, the return of the Superpibes, the debut of Juan Lebron and Leo Augsburger, and the quest for a fourth Major of the year for Delfi Brea and Gemma Triay. It promises to be a week of pure show in Acapulco, Mexico, host of the fourth and final Major of 2025 after Doha, Rome, and Paris.

MEN In the 48-pair men’s draw, Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia will defend the title they won in 2024 and will be the number-1 seeds. They will debut either against Mexican duo Diego Arredondo/José Pablo Padilla or against Diego Garcia/Salva Oria. Coello and Tapia have won two Majors in 2025 (Doha and Paris), while Fede Chingottoand Ale Galan – champions in Rome and at the FIP World Cup Pairs – have won one and will face either Enrique Goenaga/Luis Hernandez or Emilio Chamero/Enzo Jensen. There are two major storylines: the return of the Superpibes, Franco Stupaczuk and Martin Di Nenno, seeded 4 and entering in the second round against Montiel/Cruz Belluati or brothers Nuno and Miguel Deus, and the debut as a pair of Juan Lebron and Leo Augsburger, seeded 5 and set to face either Guille Collado/Pol Hernandez or Javi Valdes/Agustin Gutierrez. Possible quarterfinals: Coello/Tapia (1) vs. Gonzalez/Guerrero (7), Sanz/Navarro (6) vs. Stupaczuk/Di Nenno (4), Nieto/Yanguas (3) vs. Lebron/Augsburger (5), Bergamini/Leal (8) vs. Chingotto/Galan (2).

WOMEN In the women’s draw, Delfi Brea and Gemma Triay (who won the Major last year with Claudia Fernandez) are seeking a clean sweep after winning the three previous Majors in Qatar, Italy, and France. In the 40-pair draw, the number-1 seeds will begin in the round of 16, with a possible debut against Martina Fassio and Patty Llaguno, finalists at the FIP Platinum in Veracruz. For Paula Josemaria and Ari Sanchez, world champions in Kuwait, their potential first opponents in the round of 16 could be Jessica Castelló and Lorena Rufo. Hypothetical quarterfinals: Brea/Triay (1) vs. Ortega/Icardo (5), Guinart/Virseda (8) vs. Ustero/Araujo (4), Fernandez/Gonzalez (3) vs. Salazar/Calvo (7), Jensen/Alonso (6) vs. Josemaria/Sanchez (2).
