Napoli, celebration for Orsi: “Proud to win in Italy”

A win that gives a big boost ahead of the Major in Mexico. Carolina Orsi and Araceli Martinez celebrated their first title together at the FIP Silver in Naples. They pulled off a great comeback in the final against Nuria Rodriguez and Marina Lobo: after losing the first set 4–6, the Italian-Spanish duo hit back 6–4 and then took the deciding set in a thrilling tie-break after two and a half hours on court. “Happy and proud to win here in Italy, in front of my family and friends… it’s been a special week I’ll remember,” Orsi said after the match. “Great job Caro, happy to win in your home country!” Martinez echoed.

In the men’s draw, it was Mario Del Castillo and Antonio Fernandez who came out on top, after a final very similar to the women’s one. They dropped the first set 4–6 against Fernandez Lancha/Ortega, then reacted with a 6–3 second set and closed it out in the tie-break. After celebrating, Del Castillo and Fernandez will now head to Acapulco for their Major debut, where they’ll face Maxi Sanchez Blasco and Jose Jimenez.
