Day6. Delfi and Gemma chasing their fourth Major of 2025, Arturo and Agus for the throne

The night in Acapulco could write the history of the season: two finals at the Premier Padel GNP Acapulco Major, where the No. 1 seeds are playing for extraordinary goals. Delfi Brea and Gemma Triay, if they win, would claim their fourth Major of the year after Doha, Rome and Paris. Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia, on the other hand, by beating Fede Chingotto and Ale Galan, would secure the No. 1 spot in the FIP ranking for the end of 2025. In the first women’s semifinal, however, Bea Caldera and Carmen Goenaga came close to the upset that would have allowed them to overtake Marina Guinart and Veronica Virseda in the Race to qualify for the Finals in Barcelona. But Delfi and Gemma, closing the match 7-6, 2-6, 6-3 in two hours and 21 minutes, earned their place in the final, where they will face Claudia Fernandez and Bea Gonzalez, who defeated Claudia Jensen and Ale Alonso 6-3, 6-2 in one hour and 24 minutes. For Claudia (the defending champion together with Triay) and Bea, this is their first Major final as a pair.

MEN In the men’s draw, the run of Juan Lebron and Leo Augsburger ended in the semifinals, beaten in their first tournament together by Fede Chingotto and Ale Galan 6-2, 6-3 in one hour and 11 minutes. For the FIP World Cup Pairs champions, this is a chance to win their second Major of 2025, after Rome. On the other side of the net will be their long-time rivals, Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia, who won the other two Majors of the year (Doha and Paris) and, after defeating Jon Sanz and Paquito Navarro 6-2, 6-7, 6-3, have earned their 2025 match point. With another title — which would be their 12th — Arturito and Agus would be certain to finish the year on the throne of padel. The action in Acapulco begins at 5 p.m. local time, midnight CET: it will be a night for strong hearts.
