Day1. Hernandez and Collado pull off the first upset in Shanghai

Three titles in the CUPRA FIP Tour 2025 – in Porto Sant’Elpidio, Giulianova and Port de Bandol – and the dream of ending the season with another triumph, this time in Shanghai. Pol Hernandez and Guille Collado delivered the first major upset of the CUPRA FIP Finals that kicked off in China, defeating second seeds Alex Ruiz and Juanlu Esbri in straight sets (6-4 6-3). A good debut for the defending champion Jairo Bautista, who, partnering with Edu Alonso, eliminated the Dutch pair Prins and De Kroon 6-4 6-2. The other seeded teams also performed well: José Diestro and Javi Garcia (6-1 6-1 against Mouriño/Chau), and Javi Garrido and Alvaro Cepero, who came through a very tight match against another Dutch duo, Richters and Roper, eventually winning with a double tiebreak.

WOMEN In the women’s draw, a double 6-0 for top seeds Aranzazu Osoro and Claudia Jensen, with straight-set victories also for the other four pairs favored to reach the semifinals: 6-3 6-1 for Fassio/Llaguno over Ordonez/Minelli, 6-2 6-1 for Castelló/Rufo over Navarro/Sluzhiteleva, and 6-2 6-2 for Rodriguez/Lobo over Tokumoto/Tsukamoto.
