FIP Promises: New regulations published, effective from 2026
December 22, 2025
International Padel Federation has published the new regulations for the FIP Promises circuit dedicated to young talents, which will come into force in 2026. The main updates are as follows:
Star Point. All matches of the FIP Promises World Tour and the FIP Promises Continental Tour will be played using the Star Point system.
Tournaments in the same week. A player may participate, in the same week, in a FIP Promises Continental Tour or FIP Promises World Tour tournament and in a Premier Padel or CUPRA FIP Tour tournament, provided that both events take place at the same venue/club.
Tournaments in other continents. In FIP Promises Continental Tour tournaments, each category will reserve one spot for a pair from each of the other three continents different from that of the organizing tournament. These spots will be allocated to the highest-ranked pairs from each eligible continent.
Maximum number of daily matches. In the event of weather conditions or other unavoidable circumstances causing schedule interruptions, a pair may not be required to play more than two matches per category on the same day without their consent. If the “extreme heat condition” is applied, a mandatory five-minute break will be taken between the first and second set. After the second set and before the match tiebreak, the regular break provided for in the regulations will apply.
FIP Promises Continental Tour Finals. At the end of the season, the FIP Promises Continental Tour Finals may be held in each continent. After the conclusion of all circuit events, the top 16 players in each category will directly qualify for the finals of their continent. To be admitted to the finals, a player must have competed in at least five FIP Promises Continental Tour tournaments in the same year. Participation in an unlimited number of tournaments outside the licensing continent is allowed, but only the points from a maximum of two external tournaments will be counted. With the exception of the Protected Ranking rule, a player’s ranking will be determined by the sum of the nine best results, including any zero-point results, obtained in FIP Promises Continental Tour and FIP Promises World Tour tournaments. A player may take part in an unlimited number of tournaments outside their licensing continent in the same year, but only the best result from a maximum of two tournaments will be considered.
Bonus points for category change. A FIP Promises player who changes category at the end of the year will receive a percentage of the points earned in the previous season (calculated on the best nine tournaments), valid for 365 days from the date the points were obtained, as follows:
- From U12 to U14: 10% of the points earned in U12
- From U14 to U16: 10% of the points earned in U14
- From U16 to U18: 10% of the points earned in U16
- From U18 to the Absolute FIP Ranking: 5% of the points earned in U18
Coaches. The presence of one coach per pair on court will be permitted in the Under 18 and Under 16 categories, while it will not be allowed in the Under 14 and Under 12 categories. In these categories, coaches must sit in the stands or in the areas surrounding the court and may not provide instructions to the players.
