Day1: Ortega-Calvo, winning debut for one of the new pairs of 2026.  Other big names on Tuesday

First day of the Premier Padel season and first thrills. While waiting for the debut of the best pairs in the world, the Riyadh P1 began with a series of hard-fought battles. As many as eight matches, between the men’s and women’s draws, were decided in the third set. Marta Ortega and Martina Calvo, one of the many new pairings in the women’s tournament, stayed on court for just one hour and 14 minutes before defeating Jessica Castellò and Lorena Rufo 6-3 6-1. Noa Canovas and Laia Rodriguez (6-0 3-6 6-0 against Collombon/Montes) will be the first opponents of Bea Gonzalez and Paula Josemaria; Marta Talavan and Sofia Saiz (7-5 6-7 6-3 against Borrero/Sharifova) will face Andrea Ustero and Ari Sanchez.

 

MEN The season of Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia will begin against the French wild cards Dylan Guichard and Bastien Blanqué (7-5 6-1 over Cruz Belluati/Dominguez). They are expected on the center court tomorrow along with the other big names in world padel: Fede Chingotto and Ale Galan will face Gonzalo Rubio and Javi Ruiz (4-6 7-6 7-6 against Arce/Lijo), while the first match of Mike Yanguas and Franco Stupaczuk after their “reunion” will be against Pol Hernandez and Guille Collado (7-5 6-4 over Santigosa/Sintes).
