Netherlands, in Houten the return of Carmen Castillón: “I am very happy”
March 5, 2026
The energy of Nati Lopez Diaz, one of the most successful players on the CUPRA FIP Tour, partnered with Victoria Kurz. Also the talent of Claudia Escacena alongside Monica Gomez, as well as the determination of the Dutch pairs Bo Luttikhuis–Janine Hemmes and Steffie Weterings with Tia Norton. The women’s draw of the FIP Bronze Padelshop Open in Houten, Netherlands, promises plenty of action, with an additional presence strengthening the list of title contenders. Among them is Carmen Castillon, returning after physical problems that kept her away from the courts for more than nine months. The Spanish player is enthusiastic and, together with Teresa Moriñigo, will make her debut directly in the round of 16, like all the top six seeded pairs. “I am very happy”, commented Carmen. “They have been difficult months, full of challenges and complicated moments, but with the support of family and friends everything has been easier. I thank everyone who supported me”.
Clement Geens and Dylan Guichard lead the men’s entry list, where Johan Bergeron, winner of the 2025 edition, is also among the leading names, this time partnered with the young Timeo Fonteny (6). In the bottom half of the draw, the pair to beat is Guillem Figuerola and Roberto Belmont, already finalists in the FIP Bronze and the FIP Silver in Melbourne. The main draw is scheduled to begin on Friday, with the round of 16 and quarter-finals on Saturday, while the semi-finals and finals will take place on Sunday.
