Ponta Delgada, Day2: Quilez–Mouriño show, here are the finalist pairs

A remarkable Day2 for the tournament’s surprises. At the FIP Gold in Ponta Delgada, in the Azores, Marc Quilez and Fede Mouriño were the standout performers on the day of the quarter-finals and semi-finals: after defeating Lucho Capra and Víctor Ruiz in Day1 on Friday, the Spaniard and the Argentine first beat José Diestro and Andrés Fernández Lancha (6-3 6-4), the number four seeds, before securing their place in the final against the top seeds Javi Barahona and Javi García, again after two sets of high intensity (6-3 7-5). In the final scheduled for Sunday starting at 14 local time (16 CET), Quilez and Mouriño will face Juanlu Esbri and Alex Ruiz, winners of a spectacular semi-final against José Jiménez and Maxi Sánchez Blasco (7-5 4-6 6-2).

In the women’s draw, the pair formed by Patty Llaguno and Martina Fassio (1) were dominant, conceding only three games across their two matches yesterday – first against Ligotti/Alonso and then against Borrero/Sharifova. The finalists of the CUPRA FIP Finals 2025 will face Lucía Martínez and Águeda Pérez in the final scheduled for 10.30 (12.30 CET), after defeating Bidahorria/Caparros (2) with a double 6-1 in the semi-finals.
