Alexandria hosts Alberto Gasca’s first title

At the FIP Bronze We Padel Tournament in Alexandria, Egypt, a first-time achievement was recorded. Spanish player Alberto Gasca secured his first title on the CUPRA FIP Tour alongside Alejandro Urzola, who claimed his second career victory. After defeating the 2006-born twins Andres and Arturo Calzada in the semifinals (6-3, 6-3), Gasca and Urzola prevailed in the final against Pepe Aliaga and Luis Oliver Artigas (6-1, 6-3). “We managed to win the title after playing a wonderful match in the final – Urzola commented following the victory -. Finally, we have achieved the title we were aiming for. I am pleased to do it alongside Alberto. We will continue working because we want more”. Gasca expressed his joy: “My first title on the professional circuit. An incredible week. I am very happy for all the work we have been putting in”.
While the men’s draw produced a surprise winner, the women’s main draw unfolded according to expectations. Marìa Portillo and Marta Arellano, the tournament’s top seeds and both within the FIP Top 100, claimed the title. In the final, they defeated Lucia Fernandez and Rebeca López (6-3, 6-4), having previously overcome Marcella Koek and Carla Fitò in the semifinals (6-2, 6-3). “Champions of Egypt – Arellano wrote after the victory -. I am very happy with the triumph alongside Marìa. It is a pleasure to share the court with her”.
