Day1. Aguirre and Alfonso, 2025 finalists, start with a win

One year ago in Cancun, Tolito Aguirre and Gonza Alfonso reached the final. In 2026, the two Argentinians are competing with different partners, but both have nevertheless opened the Mexican P2 with a victory. Tolito, partnering Alex Arroyo, defeated the Mexicans Amora and Acevedo 6-2 6-2; Alfonso, alongside Sanyo Gutierrez, overcame Maxi Sanchez Blasco and José Jimenez 6-3 7-6. Alonso/Tello and Garcia/Barahona were the other two pairs to win their opening-round matches, with the ‘Javis’ set to face Fede Chingotto and Ale Galan in the round of 16 on Thursday.

 

WEDNESDAY Today the round of 16 line-up in the men’s draw will be completed, ahead of the debut of the top four seeds scheduled for Thursday. Today at the Rafa Nadal Tennis Centre Costa Mujeres also marks the start of the women’s tournament, with eight matches determining the opponents of the eight seeded pairs, who will enter the competition on Thursday.
