Sainz wins again, another title in Parma with Raquel Eugenio
March 23, 2026
Two perfect weeks for Lucía Sainz, who, after her victory in Manila in the first all-women FIP Silver of the CUPRA FIP Tour, also claimed the FIP Silver Mediolanum Padel Cup in Parma. In the Italian city, the world number 21 celebrated again alongside Raquel Eugenio, securing their second title of 2026 together after the FIP Platinum in Marseille.
The women’s final against Carolina Orsi and Leti Manquillo was closely contested, particularly in the first set, which was decided by key moments. The match remained finely balanced until a break that appeared to give Orsi and Manquillo the advantage. At 2-2, with serve in their favour, Sainz and Eugenio led 40-0 but were pegged back by their opponents, eventually conceding the break on a deciding point following a net error by Sainz. Leading 3-2, the Italian pair maintained a high tempo up to 5-4, with Orsi serving for the set. From that point, however, the match shifted: Sainz and Eugenio secured the immediate break back and took control, conceding only one further game. The final score, 7-5 6-1, rewarded the Spanish pair after a high-level performance throughout the tournament. “I want to keep fighting in every match for as long as I enjoy it,” said Sainz after the victory. “I am learning a lot from Lucía; it is an honour to play with her,” added Eugenio.
In the men’s draw, a second title of the season for Ignacio Vilariño and Mario Del Castillo, who defeated Pedro Perry and Ramiro Pereyra in three sets. After taking the first set 6-4, the favourites were pulled back by their opponents (7-5) before closing the match 6-3 in the third. “It was not easy at all, even though we were the favourites,” said the winners after the match. “The court was very fast and that created difficulties at times, also due to Pedro and Ramiro’s ability to control the ball. We are very pleased, and we congratulate them and the crowd, who supported us throughout the week.”
