Almaty: from Di Nenno-Gonzalez to Osoro-Iglesias, a star-studded field in Kazakhstan
March 31, 2026
One hundred and fifty athletes from 20 countries take part in a new historic stage of the CUPRA FIP Tour. In Almaty, Kazakhstan, the second FIP Gold of the 2026 season is held — and the first ever in the Central Asian nation. As with the tournament in Ponta Delgada in early March, the Add Padel Almaty offers €50,000 in prize money and 150 FIP Ranking points.
The main draw, starting on Thursday, features a strong field of top players — over 30 from the world top 100 and eight from the top 25. In the men’s draw, highlights include Martin Di Nenno, ranked 12th, and Momo Gonzalez (15), who returns to the CUPRA FIP Tour after winning the FIP Platinum in Mexico last year, as well as the two titles he claimed in 2024 in Marbella and Sardinia. Javi Leal, who won a FIP Platinum earlier this year in Marseille, also competes in Kazakhstan, where he and Pablo Lijó lead the bottom half of the draw. Potential semi-final matchups include Martin Abud and Miguel Lamperti (6), or Alex Arroyo and Pablo Garcia (3). Gonzalez and Di Nenno could meet Curro Cabeza/Mariano Gonzalez (5) or Jose Diestro/Maxi Sanchez Blasco (4) on their path.
In the women’s draw, the top seeds are Aranzazu Osoro (19) and Victoria Iglesias (20), reunited on the circuit after winning titles at the FIP Silver in Turin and the FIP Platinum in Veracruz in 2025. Chasing the top seeds are Ana Nogueira and Lucia Sainz, the latter already with three CUPRA FIP Tour titles this year. Other highly anticipated pairs include Jessica Castelló/Lorena Rufo (3) and Jimena Velasco with Marta Barrera (4).
