Netherlands: García-Jiménez Begin new chapter with title

For one chapter that closes, another opens. Javi García, following his separation from long-time partner Javi Barahona, has begun a new phase with a victory at the FIP Bronze in the Netherlands alongside José Jiménez (39); this tournament marked their debut as a pair. The champions claimed the title in Houten by defeating Lucho Capra and Agustín Torre in the final (6-3 6-4). In earlier rounds, they overcame Ignacio Piotto and Mario Ortega in the semifinals (6-3 6-2) and Ferran Insa and Tomas Perino in the quarterfinals (6-1 6-4). García-Jiménez secured their first title of the year on the CUPRA FIP Tour without dropping a single set. “Champions – García said after the victory -. This has been a strong start for us”. García also paid tribute to Barahona, parting on a note of respect: “So many travels, so many moments, so much time together, and above all, a great friendship. Heartfelt thanks to everyone who was part of the ‘Javis’ and to those who have always supported us. Thank you, Javi; now we will continue to enjoy everything even off the court”.

In the women’s draw, Sandra Bellver and Melania Merino became champions with a victory in the final over Lorena Vano and Xenia Clascà (6-3 6-4). On their way to the title, the winners had defeated Victoria Kurz and Nati Lopez Diaz in the semifinals (6-3 6-3) and Mónica Gómez and Claudia Escacena in the quarterfinals (6-3 6-7 6-2). For Bellver and Merino, this was their first title of the 2026 CUPRA FIP Tour.
