Libaak-Chozas the favourites in Mexico. Attention also on Aguirre
April 8, 2026
The CUPRA FIP Tour returns to Mexico with the men’s FIP Silver in Aguascalientes. The draw features a pair that stands out above the rest: Tino Libaak and Alex Chozas, n. 54 and 28 in the FIP Ranking, who at the start of this season reached the round of 16 at the Premier Padel events in Riyadh, Gijón and Miami. Their main challengers for the title are Matias Almada and Tolito Aguirre. For the latter, the best result achieved in 2026 was the semi-final reached, alongside Alex Arroyo, at the Premier Padel Cancún P2 against Agustin Tapía and Arturo Coello. The two most competitive pairs are on opposite sides of the Mexican draw and could meet only in the final. Should this occur, it would be a clash between former partners: Chozas and Aguirre won the last CUPRA FIP Tour tournament they played together, the FIP Silver in Mendoza, Argentina, last November, where they defeated Luciano Puppo and Maximo Maldonado in the final. The latter pair will also be in Mexico and will aim to repeat their South American success after winning the FIP Silver in Joinville, Brazil, last month.
The draw also includes other notable pairs such as Agustín Torre-Federico Chiostri, Franco Dal Bianco-Facu López and Leonardo Yob-Joaquín De Astoreca. The main draw begins today and will conclude on Saturday, when the semi-finals and final will be played. Matches will take place indoors at Padel 3015 The Complex.
