April 9, 2026
Following a strong start to the season, in which she has achieved significant results, Virginia Riera is aiming to continue her winning run: her objective at the FIP Bronze in Baku, Azerbaijan, is to secure her fifth title of 2026 on the CUPRA FIP Tour. This year, the Argentine has already won the FIP Silver events in Dubai and Manila, as well as the FIP Bronze tournaments in Agrigento and Bahrain. On this occasion, the world n. 30 in the FIP Ranking will compete alongside Azerbaijan’s Raila Karimli. Their main challengers are María Portillo and Lucia Micaela Fernandez. The latter is seeking her first title of the year on the circuit, while the former has already triumphed at the FIP Bronze in Alexandria, Egypt. Other pairs in the draw include Anastasiia Ryzhova and Dora Chamli, as well as Alica Repcikova and Dora Andrejszki.
In the men’s draw, the contest will feature Gustavo Nunes and ‘Tonet’ Sans against Alberto Garcia and Christian Medina Murphy, who arrive in Baku after reaching the final of the FIP Silver in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. In the top half, alongside Nunes and Sans, are Pablo Pastor and Luis Oliver Artigas, while in the bottom half, in addition to Garcia and Murphy, there is Albert Trillas together with the winner of the FIP Bronze Comunidad Valenciana I last February: Daniel Luna.
