Day3. Alonso ahead also with Goñi. Quarter-finals scheduled today
April 24, 2026
Less than a week ago, Edu Alonso reached the semi-finals of the Newgiza P2 alongside Juan Tello. From Egypt to Belgium, Alonso is competing with a new partner, Aimar Goñi, yet he continues to play a leading role: following a 4-6 6-2 6-3 comeback victory over Javi Garrido and Lucas Bergamini, Alonso and Goñi have advanced to the quarter-finals of the Lotto Brussels Premier Padel P2, where they will face the number 4 seeds Juan Lebron and Leo Augsburger. For Goñi, this is his best result at Premier level, equalling the quarter-final reached last year in Tarragona. The other unseeded pair to reach the quarter-finals is Jairo Bautista and Lucas Campagnolo, who ended the run of Martin Di Nenno and Momo Gonzalez (7-5 6-4): today they will face Franco Stupaczuk and Mike Yanguas (3). Guerrero/Navarro (5) v Chingotto/Galan (2) and Coello/Tapia (1) v Nieto/Sanz (6) are the other quarter-final matches.
WOMEN One unseeded pair has also reached the quarter-finals in the women’s draw: Jessica Castelló and Lorena Rufo, who secured their place with a 6-3 6-2 win over Marina Guinart and Veronica Virseda, earning the opportunity to face the number 4 seeds Claudia Fernandez and Sofia Araujo not before 13:00 on Court Nextensa. The match between Marta Ortega and Martina Calvo (6) and Bea Gonzalez and Paula Josemaria (2) will open the programme on centre court at 11:00, followed by Tamara Icardo and Claudia Jensen (5) against Ari Sanchez and Andrea Ustero (3). Delfi Brea and Gemma Triay (1) against Ale Salazar and Ale Alonso (7) will open the evening session at 18:00.
