A Brazilian derby in Buenos Aires. In the round of 16 of the Argentine P1 taking place at Parque Roca, in front of VIP guests such as Carlos Tevez, Sebastian Driussi and rapper Milo J, Lucas Campagnolo, alongside Jairo Bautista, faced fellow Brazilian Lucas Bergamini, who is partnered with Javi Garrido. Campagnolo came out on top with a 1-6 6-3 7-5 victory, a result that sends Campagnolo and Bautista into the quarter-finals against Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia, who defeated Edu Alonso and Aimar Goñi 6-3 6-3. Also in the top half of the draw, Javi Garcia and José Jimenez produced an upset thanks to a 6-4 6-4 win over Momo Gonzalez and Martin Di Nenno (7), earning a quarter-final against Franco Stupaczuk and Mike Yanguas (3). The quarter-finals in the bottom half, meanwhile, followed the seeding: Juan Lebron and Leo Augsburger against Paquito Navarro and Fran Guerrero, and Coki Nieto and Jon Sanz against Fede Chingotto and Ale Galan.

WOMEN In the women’s draw, winning debuts for the top four seeded pairs, while the number 7 seeds, Ale Salazar and Ale Alonso, needed a third set to overcome Aranzazu Osoro and Victoria Iglesias 7-6 2-6 7-5. One of the longest matches of the day was won by Lucia Martinez Gomez and Agueda Perez, who defeated Julieta Bidahorria and Marta Caparros 4-6 6-1 7-5. However, an injury suffered by Martinez will prevent the pair from facing Delfi Brea and Gemma Triay in today’s quarter-finals.

There will therefore be seven matches on today’s schedule starting from 9 a.m. local time, 2 p.m. CET: a long day of padel that will determine the semi-finalists.
