A packed arena with 13,000 spectators, the emotions surrounding the farewell to Miguel Lamperti, who played the final Premier Padel tournament of his career in Buenos Aires. Then came a long day of action that determined the semi-finalists of the P1 in the Argentine capital: in both the men’s and women’s draws, the top four seeded pairs will compete for the title. Bea Gonzalez and Paula Josemaria, winners of the last four consecutive tournaments, came close to seeing their streak ended but eventually overcame Ale Salazar and Ale Alonso 7-5 2-6 6-2. Today, in the match that will open the programme at 1 p.m. local time (6 p.m. CEST), they will face Ari Sanchez and Andrea Ustero in the semi-finals, after the latter advanced with a 6-0 6-2 win over Marta Ortega and Martina Calvo. In the top half of the draw, meanwhile, not before 3 p.m., Delfi Brea and Gemma Triay will face Claudia Fernandez and Sofia Araujo, who came back from a set down (3-6 6-3 6-1) against Tamara Icardo and Claudia Jensen.
MEN Not before 5 p.m. local time (10 p.m. CEST), the men’s semi-finals will take place, with the most anticipated clashes also on schedule here: Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia will open against Franco Stupaczuk and Mike Yanguas, who won respectively 6-2 6-2 over Jairo Bautista and Lucas Campagnolo, and 6-3 7-6 over Javi Garcia and José Jimenez. Following that, Fede Chingotto and Ale Galan will face Juan Lebron and Leo Augsburger: a 6-1 7-6 win for the ‘Chingalan’ over Coki Nieto and Jon Sanz, while Lebron and Augsburger defeated Fran Guerrero and Paquito Navarro 6-3 6-2.
