Italy, Jose Luis Gonzalez targets 15th CUPRA FIP Tour career title
May 21, 2026
The spanish Jose Luis Gonzalez arrives at the FIP Bronze Latina with one objective: securing victory to join Flavio Abbate and Gonzalo Rubio at the top of the all-time CUPRA FIP Tour titles list with 15 wins. This time, Gonzalez will compete alongside Antonio Varo, winner this year of the FIP Bronze Rivesaltes in France. Gonzalez has already shown a strong connection with Italy: this season he won the FIP Silver Bari alongside Italy’s Marco Cassetta. In addition, he celebrated victory in January at the FIP Bronze Mallorca. Challenging for the title are the No.1 seeds in Latina, Marc Sintes and Dani Santigosa, who in 2026 lifted the trophies at the FIP Silver Caen and the FIP Bronze Elche. However, the battle for the title is not limited to these pairs, with Ferran Insa, recent winner of the FIP Bronze Alexandria in Egypt, and 2007-born Diego Arredondo also among the standout names. Furthermore, after defeat in the final of the FIP Bronze Baku, Gustavo Nunes and Tonet Sans are aiming to bounce back with a strong result.
Among the wild cards in Latina is a player who will always remember this tournament. Asier Estébanez will make his debut on the CUPRA FIP Tour at just 14 years of age. The young padel talent has already shown his quality in the junior categories, having won the title at the FIP Junior Padel Cup by Pairs 2025 held in Reus, Spain, last September.
Noa Canovas and Maria Eulalia Rodriguez, No.37 and 39 in the FIP Ranking, lead the women’s draw. The pair won the title together at the FIP Silver Espoo in Finland, while Rodriguez also triumphed at the FIP Bronze Seville alongside Amanda Lopez. Also in focus are the pairs Anna Ortiz-Rebeca Lopez and Martina Parmigiani-Bo Luttikhuis. The latter, alongside Marcella Koek, became champion at the FIP Bronze Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia held last April. Also entered in the tournament are Christina-Styliani Ntanou and Raquel Piltcher.
