Leal and Guerrero triumph in Portugal. Now the FIP Platinum Albania and then the Rome Major

There was no better way for Javi Leal and Fran Guerrero to celebrate their return as a pair in the tournament preceding the FIP Platinum Albania: the two players secured victory at the FIP Silver in Oeiras, following their win in the final against Diego Garcia and Santi Pineda. Leal and Guerrero, after a closely contested first set decided only in a tie-break, dominated the second with a clear 6-2. The champions, who lifted the title without dropping a set throughout the tournament, had defeated José Solano and Ramiro Pereyra in the semi-finals (6-4 6-3). This success is significant for Leal and Guerrero as it confirms the strength of the partnership: in February 2026 they had won the FIP Platinum in Marseille, defeating Javi Garrido and Luca Bergamini in the final.

In the women’s draw, Marta Talaván and Sofia Saiz claimed the title. The queens of Oeiras first achieved a notable victory in the semi-finals against the top seeds Aranzazu Osoro and Victoria Iglesias (2-6 7-5 6-3), before going on to triumph over Alix Collombon and Ksenia Sharifova (6-3 6-4), winners in April of the FIP Silver in Bari. This result confirms the strong form of Talaván and Saiz, who last week, in the round of 16 of the recent P1 in Buenos Aires, had defeated Teresa Navarro and Virginia Riera before being beaten by the number 1 pair in the Race: Paula Josemaría and Bea González.
