Day1. Castaño and Gil want to keep enjoying themselves: the reward is Lebron and Augsburger

The partnership between young talent Manuel Castaño and Xisco Gil will come to an end after the two tournaments scheduled in Spain, the Valencia P1 and the Valladolid P2. The 2008-born player and his partner, who came close to a major upset against Franco Stupaczuk and Mike Yanguas last week in Rome, made a strong start at La Fonteta and want to have fun again. After a battle lasting more than two and a half hours, Castaño and Gil defeated wild cards Adrian Naranjo and Pablo Sanchez 6-4 4-6 7-6, earning another meeting with one of the strongest pairs on the circuit, Juan Lebron and Leo Augsburger. Rome champions Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia will make their debut on Wednesday against Luis Hernandez and Lucho Capra, while Fede Chingotto and Ale Galan will face the challenge of young duo Curro Cabeza and Mariano Gonzalez.

TOMORROW Tuesday will mark the start of the women’s draw, featuring, among others, Valencia native Tamara Icardo, who alongside Claudia Jensen will face Sofia Saiz and Marta Talavan, as well as Ale Salazar and Ale Alonso (7) against Martina Fassio and Raquel Eugenio, and Sara Errani, competing on a wild card with fellow Italian Martina Parmigiani, against Virginia Riera and Teresa Navarro. In the men’s draw, Franco Stupaczuk and Mike Yanguas (3) will begin their campaign against Miguel Benitez and Aris Patiniotis, Coki Nieto and Jon Sanz (5) will face Andres Fernandez Lancha and Enrique Goenaga, while Paquito Navarro and Martin Di Nenno (6) will take on José Luis Gonzalez and Alvaro Melendez.
