The most notable victory of the second day of the Valencia P1 came in the morning from Raquel Eugenio and Martina Fassio, who conceded just one game (6-1 6-0) to the tournament’s seventh seeds, Ale Salazar and Ale Alonso. Valencia native Tamara Icardo also made a winning start, partnering Claudia Jensen (5) to reach the round of 16 with a 6-1 6-4 victory over Sofia Saiz and Marta Talavan. While awaiting the debut of the top four seeded pairs, the marathon match of the day saw Carolina Orsi and Patty Llaguno come back to defeat Aranzazu Osoro and Victoria Iglesias 5-7 6-0 7-6.

 

MEN In the men’s draw, eight of the 16 second-round matches were played. Among the surprises were Marc Sintes and Dani Santigosa’s 6-4 6-4 victory over Gonza Alfonso and Javi Barahona (16), and Fede Mouriño and Marc Quilez’s 6-3 6-3 win against Tolito Aguirre and Alex Arroyo (12). Winning starts also came for Franco Stupaczuk and Mike Yanguas, Coki Nieto and Jon Sanz, and Martin Di Nenno and Paquito Navarro. Tomorrow, on Centre Court, Juan Lebron and Leo Augsburger will face Manuel Castaño and Xisco Gil in the final match of the morning session, which begins at 10 a.m. In the afternoon, following the women’s match between Marta Ortega and Martina Calvo against Jessica Castelló and Lorena Rufo, it will be the turn of the Rome Major finalists: first Fede Chingotto and Ale Galan against Curro Cabeza and Mariano Gonzalez, followed by Arturo Coello and Agustin Tapia against Luis Hernandez and Lucho Capra.
