El Prat, López Diaz triumphs and joins Manquillo at the top of the all-time CUPRA FIP Tour winners’ Ranking

Winning a trophy at a tournament held in your home country is a special feeling. Last weekend, Spaniards Nati López Diaz and Aida Martinez claimed the title at FIP Bronze Padel Barcelona El Prat after defeating Argentina’s Maria Laura Ferreyra and their compatriot Carmen Castillon in three sets (2-6 7-6 6-4) in the final. Thanks to this triumph, López Diaz becomes the most successful player in the history of the CUPRA FIP Tour, with 15 titles, a record she shares with Leti Manquillo. In the semi-finals, the champions had beaten the Dutch duo of Janine Hemmes and Bo Luttikhuis 6-2 7-5. The title won in El Prat was not Lopez’s only title of 2026: she had already won the FIP Bronze events in Cyprus and Prishtina. For Martinez, meanwhile, this was her first title of the year on the CUPRA FIP Tour: she had been runner-up at the FIP Silver events in Bari and Caen. “We had an incredible weekend!” said López Diaz. “Now we continue to improve as a team and fight until the end, as we have been doing. I can only say chapeau: determination, character and attitude. Now it’s time for a little holiday.”

In the men’s draw in El Prat, the title went to the pairing of Arnau Ayats and Emilio Sanchez. After their victory at the beginning of August at FIP Silver Slam Collbató, the two players won defeating No. 1 seeds Albert Roglan Pons and Manuel Aragon 6-4 6-4 in the final last weekend. In the semi-finals, the champions had beaten Ferran Insa and Pau Miñano 6-3 6-2. Ayats and Sanchez dominated the tournament, not conceding a single set to any of the pairs they faced. “Champions!” said Sanchez. “A lot of work, a lot of effort and a lot of heat, but it was worth it. Thanks to everyone who supported us and stood by us throughout the tournament.”
