Montiel with a clear ambition in Bangkok: sixth title of the year in the CUPRA FIP Tour

ROME – His sixth title of the year: this is the objective Alvaro Montiel arrives in Thailand with at the FIP Silver Bangkok. The No. 64 in the FIP Ranking, who will play alongside world No. 56 Gonzalo Rubio in Thailand, has won five titles this season with Flavio Abbate on the CUPRA FIP Tour: the FIP Silver titles in Cyprus and Alcala de Guadaira, and the FIP Bronze titles in Agadir, Agrigento and Cyprus I and II. Rubio, meanwhile, is seeking an Asian hat-trick. At the beginning of April, he won the FIP Bronze in Mumbai, India, while at the end of the same month he became champion at the FIP Silver in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. Montiel and Rubio are the No. 1 seeds and are in the top half of the draw alongside Miguel Gonzalez-Jose Solano (3). In the opposite half are Ignacio Archieri-Pablo Sanchez (2) and Alberto Garcia-Christian Medina Murphy (4).

The women’s draw is led by Barbara Las Heras and Daria Kucheriavaia. One pair will arrive in Thailand on the back of victory last week at the FIP Bronze Phuket: Elsa Terranova and Angelina Neizvestnaya (4). Both pairs are in the top half of the draw. In the opposite half are Victoria Kurz-Patricia Araus (2) and Janine Hemmes and Bo Luttikhuis (3), who won the FIP Bronze Kuala Lumpur in April alongside fellow Dutch player Marcella Koek.
