Libaak-Alfonso head to Budapest aiming for a second win together

ROME – After reaching the last 32 at the Paris Major Premier Padel, Gonza Alfonso and Tino Libaak, No. 27 and 35 in the FIP Ranking, arrive in Hungary aiming to win the title at the FIP Silver Budapest Open II. The two Argentinians already have one title together: the FIP Silver Porto Sant’Elpidio, held in Italy in August. Alfonso has also reached a prestigious semi-final this season at the Premier Padel P2 in Cancun. Also in the spotlight is world No. 34 Javi Barahona, who will take to the court with Marc Sintes at this CUPRA FIP Tour event. This tournament promises plenty of matches and interesting challenges, with several competitive pairs in the entry list, from Clement Geens-Dylan Guichard to Marc Quilez-Federico Mourino, as well as Thijs Roper-Willy Slaryd and Timeo Fonteny-Nacho Moragues.

The No. 1 seeds in the women’s draw are Noa Canovas and Laia Rodriguez: both are world No. 32 with 1,900 FIP points. The pair are enjoying an outstanding season: in June, they won the FIP Gold in Shanghai, as well as the FIP Silver titles in Barcelona and Espoo and the FIP Bronze in Latina. In the top half of the draw alongside Canovas and Rodriguez are also Marta Borrero and Teresa Navarro (4). In the opposite half, the pairs to watch include Alix Collombon-Ksenia Sharifova (2) and Marta Caparros-Sofia Saiz (3).

The main draw of the tournament will begin on Friday 18 September and conclude on Sunday 20 September, when the semi-finals and finals will be played.
