Bellver and Dominguez seal the women’s throne in Alicante

ALICANTE – After losing the final at the end of August at FIP Bronze Madrid, Ana Dominguez had reason to smile again in Spain. The Spaniard, alongside Sandra Bellver, triumphed at FIP Bronze Sportclub Alicante. After overcoming Alba Perez and Alba Gallardo in the semi-finals (6-2 7-6), the winners defeated Aida Martinez-Nati Lopez in the final in three sets (7-6 1-6 6-3). For Dominguez, this was her first CUPRA FIP Tour title of the year, while Bellver had already triumphed at three events on the circuit: FIP Bronze Houten, Cyprus and Yogyakarta. One of the highlights of the event was Ale Salazar reaching the semi-finals alongside NextGen young star Carlota Lamas Rodriguez (14 years and 11 months).

The men’s title went to Samu Rivas-Luis Oliver Artigas, who defeated Jaime Munoz-Mario Huete in the final in two sets (6-4 7-6). The champions booked their place in the title decider by defeating the No. 1 seeds, Victor Ruiz-Mario Ortega, in the semi-finals. “First of all, I want to congratulate my partner for the very high level he showed in every match,” said Rivas, born in 2008. “It has been a pleasure, and I will always remember this tournament. I will continue working so that more achievements like today’s can come. Thank you to my whole team, my family and my friends, who always support me. I love you all very much. I am really eager to keep improving. The final months of the season are here, so let’s go for the final sprint with the same desire as always.”
